After arriving to the town, Tirrell, an eleven-yr veteran of the United States Army, was without employment, income, and housing and was getting by with the generosity of associates. He began receiving his veterans advantages and was referred to National Able Network’s veterans division, Veterans Forward. Like many veterans transitioning into civilian life, Tirrell was making an attempt to figure out his subsequent step for a career, and with the help of the Veterans Forward group, Tirrell was uncovered to many job alternatives in varied profession industries. He discovered work within the security business and likewise earned a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) certification from the Jane Addams Resource Center. However, Tirrell’s true passion is helping others. Throughout the past two years, Tirrell has been energetic in volunteering and helping veterans and their families. He has volunteered with both National Able Network as well as veterans group Warrior to Warrior, the place he counseled veterans, active military personnel, and their households on civilian transitioning. Tirrell is also an lively volunteer coach for a youth basketball team. While volunteering at National Able Network, Tirrell was informed of a profession alternative on the Boys and Girls Club as a Teen Outreach Coordinator â€" a position Tirrell was more than suited for! With the assistance and recommendation from Veterans Program Liaison, Andrew McLaughlin, Tirrell was referred to as in to interview and was offered the position soon after! He is currently working on the Boys and Girls Club in the Logan Square neighborhood where he spends much of his time recruiting new members for the club as well as teaching and counseling present members.
